Welsh Classes at the Cambrian Hall

In Spring, 2012, Welsh classes meet on alternate Mondays at 7.30 pm downstairs in the Red Dragon at the Cambrian Hall (see the schedule below). Classes are designed for all levels of Welsh learners, from beginning to advanced, and structured so that missing a meeting will not affect your ability to follow the next lesson.

We begin by learning a few phrases of conversational Welsh, practicing the use of the language. The explanation of a point or two of grammar follows, and then reading through a short passage of literary Welsh. After the formal lesson, there is a less formal Welsh question period / social hour where learners can practice, share resources and strategies, and encourage each other.

This series of Welsh classes is led by Dr. Antone Minard, our prif ddysgwr ("main learner"), who began learning Welsh in university in California in the 1990s and improved considerably while living in Aberystwyth. The Society's community of native Welsh speakers has offered considerable support, including attending the classes to help us with pronunciation and usage.
